What is VolunTeen?
VolunTeen is for high-school students, ages 15+ (students must be 15 by June 1 in order to participate).

The program begins the week of June 16 and runs through August 7, 2008.

All VolunTeens must commit to volunteering two days a week, two hours each shift.

VolunTeens must complete a minimum of 24 work hours in order to successfully complete the program.

Become a VolunTeen
Applications are available at the Volunteer Services office inside La Porte Hospital, or you can download an application here. Applications are due on May 16, 2008.

Applications will be reviewed. To maintain program excellence, spaces are limited. In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the number of spaces available, not all will be accepted.

Orientation
All VolunTeens participating are required to attend one of the VolunTeen orientation classes offered. Orientations will be held for two hours on the first day of your program.

Possible Assignments
VolunTeens will be given a predetermined schedule. Areas and tasks can include, but are not limited to:

Diagnostic Imaging (X-ray, CT, Mammogram), Laboratory, Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, Emergency Department, Respiratory Therapy, Maternal Care/OB, ICU/PCU (Critical Care), Family Care Unit (Pediatrics—Adult), Surgery, Center for Cancer Therapy,
Continuing Care Center, Physical Therapy, Cardiovascular ICU, Social Services, Medical Records, OB/Gyn Practice, Pharmacy, Patient Registration, General Family Practice, Neuro Sleep Center, or The Wellness Resource Center

Weekly Shifts (you pick one)
Mondays and Wednesdays: 9-11 am
Mondays and Wednesdays: 1- 3 pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9-11 am
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 1- 3 pm
